Number of missing in Nepal flood rises sharply to more than 4,200, death toll surpasses 900

The death toll and number of people missing on both sides of the Nepal-Tibet border from massive floods in the Himalayas continues to rise. Nepali authorities say more than 900 people have died and over 4,200 are missing, including 590 foreigners. More than 900 workers are believed to be trapped in tunnels at more than a dozen hydropower project sites in Nepal's Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts. The challenge is to remove water, mud and debris. Rescuers have been pumping air in while deploying controlled blasts and excavators. Meanwhile, the disaster has also put a spotlight on data-sharing between China and Nepal.
