Singapore mulls stronger safeguards, daily time limit for young users on social media

Singapore plans to require age checks and stronger safeguards on social media platforms to protect young users. This includes adding time limits and disabling some features, such as direct messages from strangers. Digital Development and Information Minister Josephine Teo said the legislative changes are expected to be tabled early next year. She said platforms will have to propose their solutions to age assurance, while the government assesses and audits. Jurisdictions around the world have been paying more attention to the effects of social media on children.
