MOE to pilot smaller classes, streamlined teacher duties in six schools

Students in Singapore could soon be in smaller classes, as part of a pilot to improve learning through more individual attention. The Ministry of Education will test the approach in six schools — three each from primary and secondary levels — from next year. The move is part of a broader redesign of classroom teaching and learning. Meanwhile, teachers could see their workload lightened, giving them more time to support students' holistic development. MOE is looking into reducing teachers' duties beyond classroom teaching, from the current three roles to two. Nikhil Khattar reports.
