Iran awaits US response on proposal to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iran is waiting for a response from the US over its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the proposal was discussed with Qatari mediators, who are expected to present it to the US by tomorrow. Iran's conditions for reopening the waterway include a seven-day ceasefire across the Middle East, including Lebanon. It also calls for the unfreezing of Iranian assets held overseas and the lift of sanctions on its oil. Tehran is also demanding Washington lift its blockades on Iranian ports. US President Donald Trump has denied reports suggesting he had offered sanctions relief and the release of frozen funds, in return for nuclear concessions from Iran.
