Loh Kean Yew claimed Singapore’s best-ever Asian Games badminton result on Tuesday (Sep 29), taking silver after losing to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in straight games in the men’s singles final. Loh, who was bidding to become Singapore’s first Asiad badminton champion, put up a stronger challenge in the second game, but the world No 1 ultimately proved too strong, winning 60 per cent of the points played. Kunlavut prevailed 21-12, 21-16, becoming Thailand’s first Asian Games singles champion in badminton.
