500 seniors to get healthy eating tips under pilot nutrition programme

From November, some 500 elderly will learn healthy eating habits under a nutrition pilot that aims to reach 10,000 seniors by 2030. The Stay Strong programme by FairPrice Foundation comes as most seniors surveyed said they wanted to eat healthy but struggle to identify what makes a balanced plate. The two-session programme will teach seniors how to build a healthy plate in everyday life, such as putting together a more nutritious meal of economy rice, even on a S$3 to S$5 budget. The pilot will be rolled out at an active ageing centre in each region by the end of the year and will expand to all 27 centres in 2027. Some of these seniors will also be trained to become instructors themselves.
