Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ibrahim Al Hashmi has given his weekly briefing in Doha, covering a series of diplomatic engagements. The Emir of Qatar received phone calls from the Prime Ministers of Norway and the United Kingdom, discussing bilateral relations, the Palestinian cause and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister met with Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and visited China for talks with top officials, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Qatar also participated in an Arab League session in Cairo addressing Iranian escalation and Israeli violations, and sent a field hospital to Colombia following the recent earthquake. The spokesperson condemned Houthi attacks on civilian sites in Saudi Arabia, calling them a "blatant violation" of international law and a threat to regional security. He reiterated Qatar's call for the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, saying it is "not accepted at all" to keep it closed.
