Iran offers to open Strait of Hormuz in two days, not seven, if US accepts its seven points

Iran has offered to shorten the timeline for implementing its seven-point proposal, which is on the table with the US, says Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall, reporting from Tehran. He says the Foreign Minister is signalling concessions. Vall says Iran is ready to open the Strait of Hormuz in two days instead of seven, provided the Americans respond favourably to the seven points. He says the Foreign Minister also spoke of Iran’s military readiness, saying it has upgraded its armed forces’ capabilities, and of a favourable response from neighbours. According to Vall, the Foreign Minister said regional security should be the responsibility of the region’s countries, instead of foreign powers. Vall says the message is that Iran is in charge of the strait, and is ready with its neighbours to solve security and traffic issues without the Americans. He says the Foreign Minister insisted Iran will remain in control of the strait until there is an agreement on how to proceed, and that Iran and the Omanis should run it.
