DR Congo: 28 students among 29 killed in Bukavu school fire

A mass funeral has been held in Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for 29 people who died in a devastating fire that swept through two schools. Twenty-eight of the victims were students. Relatives and community members gathered to mourn the children, with families describing the shock of losing loved ones shortly after they arrived at school. Authorities have temporarily halted rebuilding efforts to assess the damage and address safety concerns. The tragedy has also renewed calls for stronger measures in Bukavu, a city that has experienced frequent fire incidents.
