Pham Nhat Quan Anh, the son of VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong, has been appointed chairman of the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker, taking on overall responsibility for the company's global operations. The leadership change, effective May 23, aims to support VinFast's next phase of development as it expands internationally.
Quan Anh, 33, has been with VinFast since 2019, holding various leadership roles in vehicle development, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales operations. He previously served as vice chairman and standing deputy general director of VinFast Trading and Production JSC. Prior to VinFast, he worked at Vingroup's hospitality division, Vinpearl.
Le Thi Thu Thuy, who previously held the vice chairwoman role at Vingroup, will continue in that capacity. The appointment of Quan Anh, who holds a degree in business management from Singapore Management University, strengthens the influence of the founder's family within the company. VinFast has invested heavily in international expansion, entering markets in North America, Europe, and Asia, but faces significant financial losses and intensifying competition, particularly from Chinese EV manufacturers.
