Ukraine damaged two bridges linking Russian-held Kherson with Crimea in a drone attack, suspending traffic. Separately, drone debris caused a fire at an oil depot in Russia's Krasnodar region, prompting road closures.
These attacks highlight Ukraine's strategy to disrupt Russian logistics and supply lines to occupied territories, impacting military operations and civilian infrastructure. The incidents also underscore the ongoing escalation of drone warfare and its reach into Russian territory.
Ukraine damaged two bridges connecting the Russian-held part of Ukraine's Kherson region with Crimea, suspending traffic following a drone attack. Russian-installed officials confirmed the strikes, attributing them to Ukraine. The affected bridges, including one along the Perekop–Armiansk route, are crucial alternative supply corridors into Crimea, particularly after previous Ukrainian attacks on the Chonhar bridge. The peninsula has experienced fuel supply issues due to intensified Ukrainian strikes on its northern supply routes.
Separately, drone debris caused a fire at an oil depot in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, prompting authorities to close a local road connecting the area to Crimea. The regional governor noted disruptions to fuel supplies in Krasnodar, a tourist destination, leading to panic-buying as Ukraine targets Russian energy assets. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously stated that his military's Unmanned Systems Forces have inflicted significant damage on Russian targets.
