UK bank customers filed 10,092 complaints about blocked or restricted transfers to crypto exchanges over a 90-day period, according to a report by crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto. The complaints, submitted between May and August 2026 by 9,803 individuals, were directed at banks including Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays, and NatWest Group. Lloyds received the highest number of complaints, totaling 2,297, despite having no published policy restricting crypto transfers. Barclays and NatWest have implemented daily and 30-day limits on crypto transactions. The report suggests that banks' blanket restrictions may not be proportionate and urges regulators to adopt a case-by-case approach.
