Two Indian sailors have been confirmed dead and one remains missing following an attack on the commercial vessel Settebello near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Forward Seamen's Union of India (FSUI).

The U.S. military confirmed it conducted a precision strike on the tanker for allegedly violating a blockade. The Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack, stating that of the 24 Indian crew members onboard, 21 have been rescued and three are missing.

Manoj Yadav, General Secretary of FSUI, said communication with the ship has been severely disrupted and details are still being verified. He expressed certainty that U.S. naval forces were aware of the nationalities of the crew and suggested detention could have been an alternative to a strike if instructions were not followed.
