Prominent Tunisian journalist Mohamed Yousfi was arrested by police on Friday, according to Zied Dabbar, the president of the Tunisian journalists' syndicate (SNJT). Yousfi, known for his criticism of President Kais Saied's policies, was apprehended as he was about to enter Express FM Radio to participate in a program.
In the past, Yousfi has been involved in advocating for press freedom and has spoken out against threats and attacks on journalists by law enforcement and their unions. He previously served as the Assistant Secretary-General in charge of press freedoms at the SNJT. Yousfi is also an investigative journalist and editor-in-chief of Al-Qatiba, a digital platform focused on in-depth reporting, and teaches investigative journalism at the Institute of Press and Information Sciences (IPSI) in Tunis.
