President Donald Trump stated that Hunter Biden could potentially mount a successful White House bid, drawing a comparison to recent Democratic congressional candidates who have faced controversy. Speaking to reporters, Trump was asked about Biden's potential presidential run in 2028, following a parody account suggesting him as a nominee. Trump acknowledged Biden's past, including foreign business dealings, tax evasion convictions, and drug addiction, but suggested that if candidates like Maine's Graham Platner, who has apologized for a Nazi-linked tattoo, or Texas's James Talarico, who has made controversial statements, could gain traction, then Biden might also succeed. Trump referred to Platner as a 'basket case' and Talarico as looking like 'Alfred E. Neuman.' Platner has retained support from prominent Democrats despite controversies, while Talarico has faced pushback over his religious background and past statements.
