An explosion and fire at Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City, a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing hub, has killed 13 people and injured 66. Qatari authorities attributed the incident to a 'technical malfunction' during restart operations, with the blast occurring at the Barzan factory within the complex. Emergency response teams brought a fire under control. Ras Laffan, located about 80km from Doha, is central to Qatar's extensive gas operations. The facility had previously sustained significant damage in March from an Iranian missile strike, which disrupted 17% of Qatar's LNG export capacity and was estimated to cost $20 billion in lost annual revenue.
