With 99.92% of votes counted, Nunez secured 47.78% of the vote, narrowly defeating Colorado Party candidate Camilo Perez, who garnered 45.98%. The Colorado Party had held the mayor's seat in Asuncion since 2019.
In the country's second-largest city, Ciudad del Este, opposition candidate Dani Mujica of the Yo Creo movement won decisively with 72.83% of the vote, significantly ahead of the Colorado Party's candidate who received 23.8%.
