Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has announced new partnerships with Japanese robotics firms Fanuc and Yaskawa Electric, aimed at advancing AI and robotics development. Huang's visit to Tokyo also featured a promotional event for semiconductor support for a government-backed AI developer, Noetra Corp, which is set to build a significant AI factory.
During his trip, Huang was also seen distributing red bean buns to a crowd gathered outside an izakaya in Tokyo's Kanda district. This culinary exploration has become a signature of his business trips, with past instances noted in Beijing, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
The centerpiece of the announced partnerships is the collaboration with Noetra Corp, a joint venture involving SoftBank, NEC, Sony, and Honda. This entity is planning to construct an AI factory equipped with 27,500 GPUs, intended to be the world's first national AI infrastructure specifically for robotics.
Huang also visited a former Sega arcade to acknowledge the gaming company's past support for Nvidia and attended a "Build-a-Claw" event. His dinner engagements included meetings with executives from major Japanese chip suppliers such as Kioxia, Tokyo Electron, Shin-Etsu Chemical, Sumitomo Electric, Taiyo Yuden, and Ajinomoto.
