Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang was presented with the annual Van Fleet Award for his contributions to strengthening the relationship between South Korea and the United States. The award, given by The Korea Society, specifically cited Huang's "visionary" leadership and "transformative" impact on the artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors, which are key to the economic ties between the two countries.
The ceremony was held at The Korea Society's annual gala in New York. Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won were among the attendees. The Van Fleet Award, established to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the bilateral relationship, is named after Gen. James A. Van Fleet, who commanded the U.S. Eighth Army during the Korean War in 1951. Past recipients include former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, Korean War hero Gen. Paik Sun-yup, former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and former U.S. Presidents George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter.
