New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a statewide disaster emergency on Monday due to a measles outbreak, with 108 cases reported in the state this year. Since July 15, 92 cases have been reported across 18 New York counties. Neighboring Pennsylvania has reported 977 cases, many of which are in rural counties along the New York border, according to the governor.
The emergency order also mandates that all measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccinations must be reported to New York state or New York City immunization registries within 72 hours.
