Michigan health officials reported 7,171 cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal infection linked to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants, with 102 hospitalizations. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to investigate Taylor Farms' lettuce from Central Mexico as a potential source for the outbreak, despite a recent false positive test result on a border-surveillance sample. Acting FDA Commissioner Kyle Diamantas stated the outbreak cluster involves more than 1,600 cases across multiple states. Consumer foot traffic at Taco Bell fell 30.9% on a recent Friday, while traffic at Chipotle and Cava also saw declines. Mexico's Health Minister has stated there is no evidence that lettuce from Mexico caused the outbreak.
