Libyans storm energy complex amid protests over power cuts

Demonstrations have been occurring for several days in cities including Zawiya, Tripoli, and Misrata, with citizens protesting hours-long power cuts and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah's Government of Unity. Libya has been in a state of chaos since the 2011 overthrow of Moammar Gadhafi, leading to rival administrations in the east and west, each supported by militias and foreign powers. Dbeibah heads the internationally recognized government in Tripoli, while Osama Hammad leads the administration in the east.

The protests, exacerbated by temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius, highlight deep-seated issues of corruption and mismanagement of the country's oil wealth, which has been frequently used as a political tool rather than for infrastructure development.
