La Cage, a Canadian 'sports brasserie' chain with nearly 40 locations in Quebec and recent openings in France, has launched its first UK restaurant in London's Kensington High Street. The brand, founded in 1984, has evolved from a traditional sports bar to a more refined concept focusing on scratch-made dishes, atmosphere, and service.
The London venue aims to compete with contemporary sports bars, featuring a high-specification design with sports-themed elements like baseball bat room dividers and hockey stick ceiling installations. It boasts numerous screens controllable via an iPad system, capable of showing various sports fixtures.
La Cage's president, Jean Bédard, stated that the repositioning was necessary due to evolving competition and technology, providing a reason for customers to dine out rather than stay home. The London restaurant is considered a more elevated concept than previous iterations and is intended as a flagship for further international expansion.
The menu includes La Cage favorites such as wings and popcorn, alongside British additions like Sunday Roast and a breakfast offering to cater to early sporting events. The restaurant has 210 seats across two floors, with distinct sections designed to accommodate different fan groups and private rooms available.
