- North Korea is considering deploying additional tactical weapons along the southern border.
Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, stated on Monday that the situation at the southern border is "very unstable." She attributed this to the "warmongers of the ROK military," referring to the South Korean military, for firing warning shots and threatening North Korean personnel. Kim indicated that North Korea is considering measures to address the situation, including the potential resumption of loudspeaker broadcasts and the deployment of additional tactical weapons along the border. South Korea's military had previously reported North Korea deploying thousands of workers to install mines and fences, with numerous border crossings. A North Korean mine blast last month seriously wounded two of its soldiers, prompting calls from Seoul for Pyongyang to suspend fortification work.
