The UN World Food Programme is drastically reducing lifesaving food assistance to Gaza due to funding shortages, impacting 1.1 million people. The WFP said it was reducing its planned monthly assistance from 1.6 million to 1.1 million people. Daily hot meals provided by community kitchens will drop to 150,000, and families in hard-to-reach areas will receive meals every other day. Since July, cash transfers to half a million people have already been reduced, and the number of Gazans receiving flour and ration boxes will fall from 1.1 million to 600,000 monthly. The WFP urgently requires $450 million to maintain critical operations for the next six months, having received less than half its usual funding for Palestinian operations in 2026. Humanitarian conditions remain dire, with two-thirds of Gaza's 2.1 million population displaced and reliant on aid.
