U.S. reality TV star Kim Kardashian has been awarded a symbolic €1 in damages from the thieves who robbed her at gunpoint in a Paris hotel in 2016. The conviction of the individuals responsible for the heist, which saw millions of dollars worth of jewelry stolen, occurred in May 2025.
Kardashian sought the nominal amount in a civil damages case, testifying that she believed she was going to die during the ordeal. The robbers, often referred to in France as the "Grandpa Robbers" due to their advanced ages, wore ski masks and posed as police officers. At the time, the robbery was France's largest in 20 years. Most of the stolen jewels, including Kardashian's $4 million engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West (now known as Ye), were never recovered.
The hotel's receptionist, who was also a plaintiff in the civil case, sought €500,000 in damages and was awarded approximately €110,000, according to his lawyer. Kardashian had previously expressed forgiveness towards Aomar Ait Khedache, the mastermind of the robbery, but stated that the trauma of the event remained. Khedache was sentenced to three years in prison, along with seven other individuals convicted in connection with the heist.
