Kalshi launches US midterm election forecast hub

Kalshi stated that the hub will offer a market-based perspective on election races by utilizing prices from its prediction markets, where contracts tied to political outcomes are traded. The company intends for the hub to serve as a centralized resource for voters, journalists, campaigns, policymakers, and researchers seeking election forecasts.

The launch comes as Kalshi pursues regulatory approval to expand perpetual futures trading beyond crypto and seeks new funding at a valuation of about $40 billion amid surging trading volumes. The company reported $31 billion in total notional trading volume in June, with sports contracts accounting for around 85% of its trading.

Critics suggest that prediction market prices could be influenced by speculative trading and potential insider information.
