The Detroit Tigers have placed starting pitcher Jack Flaherty on the 15-day injured list with a left peroneal strain, just as the team welcomes back ace Tarik Skubal from elbow surgery. Flaherty exited Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians after three innings due to left leg discomfort, having allowed two runs. He was replaced by reliever Jacob Waguespack. This latest injury adds to the Tigers' season-long roster challenges. To fill Flaherty's spot, third baseman Hao-Yu Lee was recalled from Triple-A. Skubal's return marks a significant boost to the rotation after a month-long absence. Pitcher Casey Mize is also expected to be reinstated from the injured list soon.
