Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has reviewed the preparedness of state governments for the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination, scheduled for June 21. The review focused on ensuring student convenience, robust security arrangements, and the overall integrity of the examination process. He directed states and central agencies to strictly adhere to security protocols.
This review comes as candidates have reported various issues, including difficulties in downloading admit cards and confusion regarding refund procedures for the cancelled May 3 examination. Many aspirants took to social media to flag technical glitches on the National Testing Agency (NTA) portal. The NTA acknowledged these concerns, stating that its teams are working to resolve all issues and that every candidate will receive their admit card.
In a separate advisory, the NTA clarified that refunds would be directly credited to the bank accounts provided by candidates on the official portal. The agency urged candidates to verify their details carefully and cautioned them against fraudulent communications claiming to expedite or authenticate refunds, emphasizing that the NTA never asks for OTPs, passwords, or payment details for refunds. Candidates who may have entered incorrect bank details will be given another opportunity to rectify them post-examination.
Meanwhile, Ahmedabad cyber crime police have uncovered an alleged fraud network targeting NEET candidates. Two individuals from Rajasthan, Sumer Singh and Akash Meena, were arrested for allegedly operating Telegram channels that falsely promised question papers and admissions in exchange for money. Investigators stated that no confidential NEET material was recovered, and the accused's claims were fraudulent.
