Guangdong-registered yachts will be permitted to sail into Hong Kong waters starting Friday, according to Mable Chan, Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Logistics. Chan announced in her weekly blog on Saturday that the maiden voyage ceremony for the Southbound Yacht Travel Scheme would be held on the launch day. This initiative builds upon the groundwork established by the Northbound Yacht Travel Scheme. The policy address on September 16 mentioned that the Marine Department "will soon sign an MoU with the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration for the implementation of southbound travel for yachts from Guangdong." However, a Hong Kong news agency reported on September 19 that both arrangements had already been signed, a claim contradicted by the secretary's transcript.
