Walt Disney Co. has agreed to license a selection of its movies and television shows to Netflix, expanding the streaming giant's content library through a new deal. The agreement, announced on Friday, includes popular titles such as the "Ice Age" film franchise and the "Will Trent" series.
The deal allows Netflix to broaden its offerings via licensing, similar to its July agreement with AMC Global Media for "The Walking Dead." Specifically, the first two seasons of Disney+ original series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" will be available globally on Netflix for three months starting October 4. Similarly, the five "Ice Age" films will stream globally on Netflix for a three-month period.
Additionally, a selection of Disney and Pixar films, including "Soul," "Elio," and "Raya and the Last Dragon," are slated to become available globally on Netflix from early 2027, with staggered launch dates and regional availability. Despite these licensing agreements, Disney intends to keep its core branded titles exclusive to its own streaming platforms and television channels.
