Coinbase's Ethereum layer-2 network, Base, is launching its Batches 004 accelerator, focusing on startups building AI agents, trading, payments, and financing products. Ten selected teams will receive a $100,000 investment each and participate in an eight-week virtual program.

Coinbase's strategic focus on AI agents within its Base ecosystem signals a significant push to integrate artificial intelligence with decentralized finance, potentially unlocking new on-chain activity and financial applications.
Coinbase's Ethereum layer-2 network, Base, is launching its latest startup accelerator, Batches 004, with a focus on AI agents and decentralized finance products. The program will select 10 pre-seed startups, offering each a $100,000 investment upfront. Applications are open until September 9, and the eight-week virtual program will culminate in a Demo Day in New York in November.
Daniel Bronheim, Base Ecosystem Fund Lead, stated that the program is shifting to a more focused approach, seeking high-signal teams building products for trading, payments, financing, and AI agents, particularly those utilizing stablecoins. He emphasized the role of blockchains as financial rails for AI, predicting that agents will drive significant on-chain activity.
Base requires participating startups to prioritize its network, though they can support multiple blockchains. The accelerator also seeks founders with fintech backgrounds to introduce new financial products. In addition to the investment, selected teams will receive dedicated advisory support, ecosystem integration, and investor presentations.
This initiative follows Coinbase's recent moves in the AI agent space, including the launch of Agentic Wallets and Coinbase for Agents, which enable AI agents to hold and spend cryptocurrency.
