Cloudflare launches programmable wallets for AI agents, plans stablecoin payments

While users can claim a Cloudflare Wallet handle immediately, the integrated payment functionalities are slated for a future rollout. Cloudflare intends to connect these wallets with its recently unveiled Monetization Gateway. This gateway leverages Coinbase's x402 protocol to facilitate stablecoin micropayments, which Cloudflare software engineer Will Papper noted in a blog post would "make it simple to try an API without an account, allowing agents to test new options with little friction."

Beyond facilitating payments for AI agents, the wallets are also intended to allow general users to store stablecoins and receive payments across the internet. Cointelegraph reached out to Cloudflare for further details on the rollout timeline and additional information but had not received a response at the time of publication. In related news, Mastercard recently completed its acquisition of BVNK for $1.8 billion, signaling a broader industry push into stablecoin adoption.
