The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced plans for nationwide protests demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing alleged irregularities and a paper leak in the NEET-UG examination.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke stated at a press conference in Pune that the party would release an education manifesto on Thursday, coinciding with the launch of their nationwide campaign. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is also expected to participate in the peaceful protests, which are scheduled to begin at the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus.
The manifesto aims to address issues such as preventing question paper leaks, ensuring timely declaration of examination results, enhancing transparency in recruitment and entrance examinations, and strengthening the accountability of examination authorities. Dipke asserted that the protests would continue until the education minister resigns, holding him responsible for jeopardizing the future of over one crore students.
The CJP plans to extend its movement to cities including Jaipur, Lucknow, Amritsar, and Bengaluru, with a final gathering planned at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 20. Dipke claimed that the government had suspended the CJP's social media accounts instead of engaging in dialogue, and urged the government to address the issues faced by the youth.
The group has recently gained visibility through social media campaigns focused on examination-related issues and has positioned itself as a youth-led platform advocating for reforms in the education sector. The CJP previously organized a protest at Jantar Mantar on June 6.
