This development follows a similar investigation into Li Yunfeng, a former deputy governor of Jiangsu province, who was probed for suspected graft in May 2016. Li, who was 59 at the time of the announcement, had spent nearly his entire career in Jiangsu and assumed his role as deputy governor in 2011. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) stated Li was suspected of "serious discipline breaches," a common euphemism for corruption. It remains unclear if Li had legal representation at the time.
