The Center for American Progress (CAP) is defending its research that challenges the effectiveness of National Guard deployments under Donald Trump's administration. A July report by CAP, authored by public safety associate director Chandler Hall, stated that the significant drop in violent crime across the U.S. began before Trump took office and well before he deployed National Guard troops to Washington D.C. a year ago.
