BMW has officially opened US order books for its highly anticipated 2027 3 Series sedan, which will be built on an all-new platform named Neue Klasse. This marks the first time the 3 Series will be available with a fully electric powertrain, utilizing BMW's sixth-generation electric motors. For consumers not yet ready to transition to electric vehicles, gasoline-powered variants will also be offered.
The sole electric model at launch will be the 2027 BMW i3 50 xDrive, an all-wheel drive configuration expected to produce 463 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. BMW anticipates a range of 446 to 468 miles on a single charge, attributed to a new cylindrical cell battery pack with a cell-to-body approach and the advanced motors. Pricing for the i3 50 xDrive is set at $61,500. Future electric variants, including an i3 M60 xDrive and an electric M3, are planned, with pricing to be announced closer to their release dates.
Gasoline-powered options include the rear-wheel drive 2027 330, starting at $49,900, and an all-wheel drive version, the 2027 330 xDrive, priced at $51,900. Both utilize a 2.0-liter four-cylinder 48V mild hybrid engine delivering 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The performance-oriented 2027 M350 xDrive will feature a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine producing 437 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque, with a starting price of $65,900. This model includes a "drift moment" function allowing for rear-wheel drive dynamics.
BMW anticipates that the first customer deliveries for the new 3 Series models will commence in the first quarter of 2027.
