ASML, a leading manufacturer of computer chip equipment, is opposing a proposed law in the US Congress that would restrict its sales of Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) lithography equipment to China. ASML's Chief Financial Officer, Roger Dassen, stated on a call with reporters following the company's third-quarter earnings that the company views the proposed "Match Act" as a bad idea.
Dassen explained that if the Act is passed, it would likely accelerate China's efforts to develop its own competing technologies domestically. He conveyed optimism that a sensible outcome would be reached.
