Apple has unveiled significant AI-powered updates for its Siri virtual assistant, developed with Google. The new Siri will emulate ChatGPT and Claude, integrating personal iPhone data, aiming to revitalize Apple's AI offerings after a two-year delay.
Apple's integration of advanced AI into Siri aims to enhance user experience and maintain competitiveness in the rapidly evolving AI landscape, despite assessments suggesting it lags behind current standards.
Apple announced significant software updates at WWDC 2026, featuring major enhancements for its virtual assistant, Siri. This overhaul aims to boost Siri's functionality and user experience, marking an attempt at an AI comeback after years of delays. The new AI-assisted Siri chatbot, developed in partnership with Google, will emulate responses similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. It will also integrate personal data from users' iPhones, alongside new photo tools and parental controls. Apple has begun shipping this AI assistant upgrade. The assistant's success is anticipated to stem from its user-friendliness and widespread availability. However, recent assessments suggest that despite its potential, Siri's current capabilities are perceived as lagging behind current AI standards. The new Siri AI's primary advantage is its focus on familiarity rather than cutting-edge technology.
