- Amazon plans to spend about $220 billion in capital expenditure for 2026.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated on Friday that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has largely sold out its cloud computing capacity through 2027, with substantial commitments already secured for 2028. This surge in demand is driven by the growing need for AI infrastructure. Jassy noted that the company is finding it challenging to meet the immense demand from AI labs and enterprises. He also mentioned that Amazon had previously indicated plans to invest approximately $220 billion in capital expenditure for 2026, and that even more investment could be beneficial given the current market conditions. AWS offers services like EC2 for cloud servers and Bedrock for accessing AI models. Amazon is scheduled to release its third-quarter financial results on October 29.
