AI-generated Dua Lipa wedding photos fool social media users

Rick Dick, known for his satirical AI content, initially shared the pictures with the hashtag #ai. He told Euronews' fact-checking team, The Cube, that he was surprised by the reaction and found it amusing that some people believed the images were real, especially as several were intentionally absurd. The artist emphasized that his intention was never to deceive but to create light-hearted caricatures inspired by the significant online attention surrounding a private event.

However, Dick highlighted that a more significant issue arises when these images are reposted without attribution. He noted that his logo and credit are often removed, leading to the images being presented as genuine photographs. This practice has become a concern for creators of AI-generated content.

This is not the first instance of AI-generated images linked to celebrity weddings going viral. Actress Zendaya previously revealed that even some of her personal acquaintances believed AI-generated images of her wedding to Tom Holland were real.

Separately, the actual wedding events in Palermo, which included guests like Charli XCX and Donatella Versace, also sparked local debate. The collective Apro Palermo campaigned against overtourism with posters reading "Palermo Is Not for Rent," expressing concerns about the impact of large events on local communities. While photo agencies captured images of guests at a welcome party, no official pictures of the ceremony or reception have been released.
