Ukraine's military announced on Tuesday that it had successfully struck the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orsk, a significant industrial city in Russia's Orenburg region. The Ukrainian military stated that a fire was recorded at the facility and that damages were being assessed. The Orsk refinery has an annual crude oil capacity of 6 million tons and produces a wide range of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, fuel oil, and bitumen, making it a strategic asset for the Russian military.
Russia's Defense Ministry reported shooting down a drone over the area, while local governor Yevgeny Solntsev confirmed that an industrial facility had been hit.
