Ukrainian forces struck the Tobolskneftekhim petrochemical plant in Russia's Tyumen Oblast on August 10, 2026, the General Staff reported. The attack, which occurred amid a drone assault that triggered an air raid alert, targeted a facility located approximately 2,200 kilometers (1,370 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
Regional Governor Alexander Moor stated that falling drones caused a fire at an industrial facility in the region. The General Staff confirmed the strike hit the plant's central gas fractionation unit, which processes 6.6 million tons of feedstock annually. This unit produces critical materials for Russia's military-industrial complex, including butadiene, isobutylene, maleic anhydride, and MTBE, used in rocket fuel components, aviation fuel, drone materials, and high-octane gasoline. The full extent of the damage is still under assessment.
Earlier on the same day, Ukrainian forces also targeted an oil refinery in Tatarstan, with the General Staff confirming a fire at the Taneco refinery in Nizhnekamsk. Russia reportedly intercepted 456 drones overnight. Ukraine frequently conducts strikes on military infrastructure within Russia and occupied territories to degrade Moscow's war-fighting capabilities.
