A 23-year-old TikTok influencer from Gravesend, Kent, has been charged with the murder of her boyfriend in Dubai. Brooke George claims she acted in self-defense during a violent attack by her partner, whom she met online. The advocacy group Detained in Dubai stated that George alleges she was forced to strip naked in front of male officers while detained at Bur Dubai Police Station, describing the experience as "deeply humiliating and distressing."
According to Radha Stirling, chief executive of Detained in Dubai, George's relationship became abusive on their second trip to Dubai. Stirling said George claimed her partner became "increasingly controlling and abusive" and that she was trying to leave Dubai after he allegedly punched her, withheld her passport, and attacked her again. George stated she "feared for her life and, reaching for a kitchen knife within her grasp, acted in self defence."
George's mother, Thereza George, expressed deep concern for her daughter's welfare, noting a change in her behavior before the incident and visible injuries on her face after speaking to her daughter immediately following the event. Detained in Dubai has called for George to be released on bail, for the case to be handled as domestic violence, and for her to receive protection, medical care, legal representation, and British consular assistance.
The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it is in contact with a British woman detained in the UAE, is supporting her family, and is in communication with local authorities.
