India summoned the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Jason Meeks, to protest an attack on the commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman. The vessel had 24 Indian crew members on board. Nagaraj Naidu, Additional Secretary (Americas) in India's Ministry of External Affairs, formally conveyed India's protest during the meeting. According to the MEA, 21 of the 24 Indian crew members have been rescued, while three remain missing. India reiterated its call for de-escalation, the protection of commercial shipping, and the restoration of safe navigation in international waters. The government remains closely engaged on the matter as efforts continue regarding the missing crew members.
