China's ports maintained their dominance in global efficiency rankings for 2025, with seven of the world's top 10 most efficient ports located within the country, according to a study released Wednesday by the World Bank and S&P Global. The annual Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), launched in 2020, assesses the efficiency of over 400 ports worldwide by measuring the average time vessels spend at each location. Longer processing times are indicative of potential delays and supply chain bottlenecks. Fuzhou port, situated in China's southeastern Fujian province, secured the top position in the 2025 rankings. It was followed by Dalian, in northeastern China, which took second place. Oman's Salalah port was ranked third, while Hong Kong secured the ninth spot. The report highlighted Ningbo port in China's eastern Zhejiang province as an example of how Asian ports have successfully managed global supply chain disruptions. The facility maintained stable ship turnaround times through robust capacity, automation, and operational discipline.
