Chelsea and England footballer Cole Palmer has launched a new range of premium craft ice, named 'Cole'd', in partnership with grocery delivery platform Gopuff. The product line, which includes chewable pebble ice with added electrolytes and large, football-shaped ice spheres, is available in the UK and US.
The launch marks the beginning of a multi-year partnership between Palmer and Gopuff. Palmer stated that he was involved in all aspects of the product, from development to packaging and content creation. He noted that the 'Cold Palmer' nickname, which inspired the product, originated with the fans.
A 2kg bag of 'Cole'd' pebble ice with electrolytes is priced at £2.50. A four-pack of 'Cole'd' football craft ice costs £4, while 2kg of regular 'Cole'd' ice is available for £2.
Palmer and his management had previously trademarked the 'Cold Palmer' name and images of his goal celebration. An application to trademark the name for wine and alcohol products was challenged by French vineyard Chateau Palmer. Palmer, who was notably omitted from England's World Cup squad, had previously featured in advertising campaigns for Coca-Cola and Nike.
Gopuff co-founder Yakir Gola described the partnership as a way to 'reimagine one of the most essential everyday items through innovation' and introduce 'the world's first electrolyte ice'.
