Costco leads a list of US retailers offering the highest hourly wages for entry-level sales floor positions, according to data compiled by Glassdoor. The analysis, which considered companies with at least 1,000 employees and at least 30 submitted salaries, utilized pay data from users between January 2025 and June 2026.
Retail jobs are a common starting point for many US workers, with approximately six in 10 individuals having held a position in the industry at some point in their careers, as reported by the Urban Institute in 2019.
Among the top-paying companies identified, J.Crew offers an average entry-level wage of $17.25 per hour. Madewell follows with $17.27 per hour, Uniqlo with $17.28 per hour, and Hannaford with $17.29 per hour.
