Hong Kong district councillor Peggy Wong Pik-kiu has resigned from her honorary adviser role at the Plover Cove Garden housing estate in Tai Po. The decision follows concerns raised by some owners about her suitability for the position, particularly in light of her links to the former owners' committee of the fire-ravaged Wang Fuk Court.
A notice from the incorporated owners of Plover Cove Garden announced Wong's resignation on Friday. The incorporated owners had already accepted her resignation on Thursday. The concerns were voiced at a corporation meeting on June 6, with one owner noting that a petition could be initiated to terminate Wong's role.
Subsequently, a petition was posted on a residents' Facebook group calling for Wong's removal and the re-election of the incorporated owners' management committee. Owners were able to sign the petition starting this week.
