Central Asia has the potential to become a strategic logistics hub for Hong Kong, according to Airport Authority Chairman Fred Lam Tin-fuk. This consideration arises as ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Europe disrupt established trade routes. Lam highlighted a significant increase in cargo volume between Hong Kong and two Central Asian nations, noting a nearly fivefold rise year-on-year. He also projected that passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport would reach 70 million this year, nearing pre-pandemic levels. Lam was part of a recent delegation led by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu to Central Asia.
